Thanks to the attempted coup, I barely registered it when all the networks called the second Georgia Senate race for Jon Ossoff but now, it’s finally setting in that Georgia, a former state of the Confederacy, will have two Democratic senators, the Black pastor of Martin Luther King’s church and the Jewish-American son of immigrants who’s the youngest Senator since Joe Biden in 1973, and that feels really good to think about.
I was just talking to a family. The dad used “he” pronouns for me while the mom used “she”. They kept shooting each other sharp glances and subtly shaking their heads.
